  • They have 100 strong congressmen – to support Romualdez
  • Poverty and illiteracy will be his advocacies: he will anchor his legislation on those issues
  • The airport for Tacloban was rehabilitated. We are still waiting for the terminal.
  • The initial funding was close to 800M for a new terminal.
  • We are the 5th busiest airport in the country, receiving at least 2M passengers a year
  • Hub for region 8 and alternative to the Cebu hub
  • Post yolanda, the airport became a point for the relief goods in the area
  • Dept of disaster: i was one of the first advocates. My wife’s version of the bill is the one in the senate. There’s a need for an agency that’s dedicated to be the first responders for relief, and rehabilitization.
  • There has to be a post disaster assessment to determine how much resources are needed.
  • MY speakership will be a “consultative” one.
  • Will make sure that the budget will not be reenacted under his speakership.
  • There are at least 100 newbies in the house. 1/3 of the 305 congressmen are new.
  • Deputy speakership: gives opportunity for other congressmen to learn or train for speakership
  • Duterte admin: they were able to do in 3 months what wasn’t done in the past administration [water, electricity, basic utilities etc]
  • Budget reform bill – is already being enacted
  • FOI bill – he will support it
